Invisible Safety Nets
Tokens of Physical Leverage
"Sometimes, you just need a symbol that tells the world to back off."
The Concept
FND is invisible. Until a major symptom strikes, you look like everyone else. This means cashiers rush you, security guards yell at you to keep moving, and strangers stare when you need to sit on the floor of a supermarket.
You don't always have the energy to explain your neurological condition. Physical "safe house" tokens do the talking for you. They are universally recognized symbols that grant you time, space, and access.
The Lanyard
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
A globally recognized green lanyard with sunflowers. It discreetly signals to staff in airports, supermarkets, and train stations that you have an invisible condition.
It is a literal "Safe House" token. When staff see it, they are trained to offer you extra time, guide you to a quieter space, or help if you have a system glitch without treating you like a nuisance.
Available globally. Many UK supermarkets give them away for free at the customer service desk.

The "Just Can't Wait" Card
For many with severe FND, neurological glitches hit the autonomic system, causing sudden, urgent physical needs.
These cards are widely recognized by high-street shops and cafes to grant immediate access to staff-only toilets without asking questions or requiring you to buy a coffee first.
Available as a physical card or a free digital app from the Bladder & Bowel Community.
